Nailsea & Backwell maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a 38-28 win over Avon.

Tries from Ryan Barrow and Jamie Elswood gave the Ravens an early advantage, before Avon scored tries from two rolling mauls, with both converted by James Leeming.

James Cleave replied with a good line off the passing of Mike Frohlich and Ben Perfect extended the lead from a brilliant backs move.

With Elswood adding all of the conversions, Avon had work to do in the second half and Elswood added a penalty.

Ben Hurd went over from a five-metre lineout, though, and at 31-21 the match was in the balance.

Avon cut the gap to just three points with a converted try, but man of the match Tom Crossman made a break and offloaded to Nick Badcock to run in Nailsea's fifth try, which Elswood converted.

Ben Hathaway, Tom Fletcher, Will Marley and man of the match Ben Morris scored tries as the seconds beat Oldfield Old Boys, with Sam Bigley adding two conversions and a penalty.
