Archant

Nailsea & Backwell claimed a deserved 24-14 win on a rare day out at Oldfield Old Boys.

Having played the majority of their games at home this season, Nailsea travelled to Bath and fell behind to a converted try from a lineout drive.

The home side had a man sent off for butting captain Luke Sharp and scrum-half Jamie Sullivan crashed over for a try from a quick tao penalty move.

Man of the match Sullivan and full-back Joe Reed kicked well for position, with a second Sullivan try converted by his team-mate to give Nailsea a 12-7 half-time lead.

Oldfield held firm for the third quarter, but Mike Frohlich produced a superb offload for Ryan Love to finish off a backs move and open up a 10-point gap.

The move of the match then saw Ben Perfect run under the posts for the bonus-point try, converted by Reed, before Oldfield hit back.

Will Marley and Sullivan were held up over the line late on after superb handling but Nailsea had done enough ahead of a home date with St Bernadettes on Saturday (2.30pm).
