Archant

Gordano were brought back down to earth as they fell to a 50-12 defeat at Western Counties North rivals Midsomer Norton.

Looking to continue the fine form shown the previous week against Matson, they saw Tom Arnall fumble from the kick-off.

That gave Norton the upper hand almost immediately and they needed on second invitation to run in eight tries over the course of the game.

After dealing with the strong Norton scrum and driving lineout, Gordano struggled to contain their lively backs, who ran through the visiting defence at will.

The home side did not have it all their own way, though, and Gordano claimed a couple of consolation tries thanks to a short-range effort from Kaine Southey and another from Josh Richards, which was created from deep inside their own 22.

But Gordano will hope for better when they play host to Old Bristolians at Caswell Lane on Saturday (3pm).
