Gordano narrowly lost to third-placed Chew Valley when the hosts scored a late try.

Chew Valley 35 pts

Gordano 31 pts

Gordano lost away to third in the league Chew Valley by a last minute converted try, but not before giving the hosts the scare of their lives.

Chew started quickly and playing down the hill in the first half they ran in three converted tries before Gordano had time to get their hands on the ball.

Once the visitors did get hold of the ball they made inroads into the Chew defence and Jack Thomas once again found the gap to get a try.

The home side reacted to this and again were on the score sheet with another converted try, making the score 28-5 to the home side.

Gordano finished the half strongly and Thomas again showed his quality and finished a great team try to make it 28-10 at the break.

The second half started with Gordano running rampant down the hill and dominated possession and once they got into the red zone they game away with points.

First up was prop Harry Ashwin who supported well and was rewarded with a good try, followed by his propping partner Kay.

Gordano were not happy with just picking up bonus point and went on the hunt for the win and it was powerhouse second row Royce Chiddle who crashed over to take the lead with seven minutes left.

With the light fading fast and time running out, the home team stepped up through the gears and it was their pacy full-back who cut his way through the line to score the winning try to make the final score 35-31.

This was a well deserved two bonus points for Gordano who came back fantastically to even get close.

On Saturday, Gordano will be hoping to get a home win when they entertain Chipping Sodbury (2.30pm).
