GORDANO bounced back from last week’s defeat and gained revenge when Tor stole the points when these two sides locked horns back in October.

On a heavy pitch, this was always going to be a forward dominated game, which should have suited the larger Tor pack. However, it was the more mobile Sharks eight that had the edge in both set piece and open play.

After a solid opening 10 minutes, Gordano went ahead courtesy of an Ash Cotterell penalty. The pitch and determined defences kept scoring chances low, but Gordano’s Aaron French showed the home supporters what they had been missing
during his lengthy injury lay-off with a powerful finish in the corner.

The Sharks piled on the pressure with Joe Harris, Ben Gilmore and Marcus
Stratton among the big ball carriers. Tor were punished by a second Cotterell
penalty, seeing his side turn around with an 11 point advantage.

It was much of the same after the break, with Gordano’s forwards in top gear,
allowing No 9 Gareth Yandell to dictate play. Wings Alex Underhill and Ed Whittaker both had good games.

Two more Gordano tries followed, with centre Lee Worgan spinning through tackles to score, and captain Matt Rollings finishing a punishing mauling move with five
points.

Tor, to their credit, never threw in the towel, and got on the scoresheet with their full-back touching down out wide.

In a good all-round display, hooker Ben Gilmore, having arguably his best game of the season was awarded the Black Horse Inn man of the match accolade.
