Gordano took a massive step closer to securing the Somerset Premier League title with a comprehensive bonus point win against Weston seconds.

Weston started the stronger and were on the board after 10 minutes with a try from No 8 Paul Morrissey, but Gordano hit back straight away prop Fred Young barging his way over the level the scores.

Weston continued to look the sharper team and when prop Ramaz Rukhadze went over for a try to re-take the lead, Gordano could have been looking down the barrel but they kept working hard and Weston were starting to flag.

With six minutes of the half to go, Gordano snatched the lead with two quick tries. First hooker Jack Cundick broke clear and the second was a typical Jack Thomas try as he ran in from 40 metres.

In the second half, Gordano extended their lead after winger Josh Richards broke down the touchline and passed to second row Royce Chiddle to score under the posts. After an hour was gone, Gordano took the match away from Weston with two quick tries. The first came from a break from scrum-half Matt Poulson who fed full-back Noah second try started with centre Elliot Handscomb breaking though the middle before off loading to Thomas who touched down for his second of the match.

Weston got a try back from second row Sam Light, but Gordano finished on a high when Young raced away and scored in the corner to finish the game off in style to make the final score 45-17.

The win takes Gordano to within four points of winning the league, but with Wiverliscombe playing Weston on Wednesday night, a Weston win would hand Gordano the title before their last game which is on Saturday away to Tor.
