Clevedon youngsters have been picked for Somerset

Clevedon Rugby Club have been celebrating recently after seeing several of their girls were selected to play for Somerset.

A total of 78 girls from year nine and 10 gathered at Nailsea & Backwell RFC for a trial, with Clevedon’s Elaine Webster, Jasmine McArdle, Rosie Wren, Reneeqa Bonner, Millie Gilbert and Ruby Bassett all catching the eye of selectors.

And another Clevedon player, Elaine Webster, was also picked to represent Somerset in the under-18 age group despite only playing rugby for a few months, having shown the great potential and promise the coaches were looking for.

A club spokesperson said: “Clevedon RFC are extremely proud and supportive of all their girls and women that play rugby representing the club and Somerset.”
