Clevedon head coach Nick Hill praised his side after their 27-14 defeat against leaders Midsomer Norton.
Orville Jones crashed over for a try, converted by Jordan Mein, to cancel out the first Midsomer try of the day for a 7-5 lead at half time.
And Ashley Vailles went over in the seconnd half, with another Mein conversion widening the gap to nine points.
Midsomer hit back with some good driving from their forwards for a converted try and moved ahead with a penalty.
And when Clevedon lost a lineout after kicking into the visitors’ half, Midsomer ran in a soft, converted try.
The seasiders threw everything at Midsomer in the closing stages but the final pass let them down and the visitors rubbed salt into the wounds with a late try.
Nonetheless, Hill said: “The scoreline definitely flattered them and we deserved something from the game.
“We’re really proud of the effort of a changed Clevedon team against the top of the league and thank everyone for their positive feedback and support.”
Clevedon visit Old Bristolians next weekend (2.15pm).
