Clevedon Colts ran out clear winners in a hastily-arranged friendly against Taunton.

Following the late cancellation of their league match against Wiveliscombe, Clevedon Colts travelled to Taunton for a hastily-arranged friendly match.

The visitors got off to a slow start as Taunton secured the ball from the kick-off and from their first attack scored a try to take a five-point lead.

Clevedon responded well and came back to put Taunton under sustained pressure which culminated in Sam Drew going over for a try at the end of the first quarter. Great work between forwards and backs resulted in a second try by Mason Parslow, following an offload by Jake Perry. Harry Butland converted to make the score 12-5 favour of Clevedon at half-time.

Clevedon continued to apply pressure from the start of the second half with Butland scoring a try to extend their lead. Taunton responded with another try of their own to make the score 17-10 to the visitors.

Clevedon continued to dominate, with the majority of territory and possession and following an attacking line-out, Jack Fear went over to score, converted by Butland.

In the last minutes of the game, Clevedon were camped on the Taunton line, with Joe Vickery and Ben Thole setting up Parslow to run in under the posts. Butland got the conversion kick to make the final score 31-10 to Clevedon.
