England rugby union players training in North Somerset ahead of Wales clash

England's rugby union World Cup squad have been training in North Somerset today (Friday).

Head coach Eddie Jones put his players through their paces at Clifton College's Sport Grounds, in Abbots Leigh, ahead of a warm-up match against Wales tomorrow (Saturday).

The team spent one week training at the grounds last month, using both its outdoor and indoor facilities.

Premiership Rugby side Bristol Bears train at nearby Kingcott Farm, in Beggar Bush Lane.

The college has a history of students representing England's Under-17 and Under-18 academy teams, while a number of ex-professional players assist with coaching youngsters, including former Bristol captain Matt Salter.

Jones named his 31-man group on Monday, with a number of shock call-ups including Northampton flanker Lewis Ludlam, Bath wing Ruaridh McConnochie, who will make his debut against Wales, and Gloucester scrum-half Willi Heinz.

The sports grounds, in Abbots Leigh Road, are one of the area's largest outdoor sporting complexes at around 80 acres of land.

England's first game in the tournament, which takes place in Japan, is against Tonga on September 22, kicking off at 11.15am.
