Roy Jenkins won the Wrington Vale Billiards League individual handicap final against team-mate Irving Prowse.

THE final week of the Wrington Vale Billiards League saw Zimmers secure a 2-2 draw in a long drawn out match with third placed
Congresbury to end up title winners by nine points.

Runners-up No Hopers finished with a 4-0 win over Short Frames with Mark Wright,
Mark White and Wayne Martin all being
successful.

Bye Bye’s played host to Backwell A with the first game between Brian Harvey and Alan Spear. Alan started reasonably well, but Brian ran out with a break of 48. The second game saw Graham Burton against Martyn Howell with Martyn always at a disadvantage as his tip fell off and ended up having to use an untried cue and unbedded tip.

Graham played as well as he has for quite a while and this coupled with Martyn’s cue trouble meant Graham won at a canter by 45.

The third game saw Ian Green put Martyn into bat for a second time. Martyn, whilst still
struggling, improved in this challenge and proved too much for an out of sorts Ian securing a consolation point for Backwell by 30.

negative handicap, Irving had reached amassed 153 points in reaching 43.

Roy was almost level in the 150s but shortly afterwards knocked in a fine break of 51 to open up a comfortable lead. Although Irving then matched him point for point, the half-century break was crucial as Roy finished the match a 300-260 winner.

In a match which lasted well over three hours, both players were extremely grateful to Wayne Ticer for a sterling refereeing performance throughout.

The individual Canons Cup final for the Bill Grainey Memorial Cup was between Reuben Hurse and the holder Martyn Holder. In a
