Rovers and Clevedon Conservatives to meet in the final of the Wrington Vale Mendip Acorns Cup.

IN the semi-finals of the Wrington Vale Mendip Acorns Cup, league champions Rovers went through to the final with a comfortable win over the Young Ones by 379-209.

In the final at Backwell Village Club yesterday (Tues), they played Clevedon Conservatives B, who has a much closer tussle against Triangle A.

Andy Sweet led a fight back in the final two frames, but just failed by 24 to overhaul the Conservative Club’s lead which had been built up in the first four frames.

In the final of the Malcolm Stone Cup Pairs competition, Julian Bond and Mike Baker played Rich Powell and Lee Kerslake.

Julian and Mike took the first two frames with relative comfort before Rich and Lee got their act together by taking the third. The fourth frame was much tighter with Lee opening a good lead after hitting a break of 23. However, Mike hit back
immediately with a 29 and a fluked pink at the end gave him and Julian the frame and a 3-1 victory.

Breaks: Mike Baker 40; Simon Cambridge 26, 22, 20; Julian Bond 25, 25; Matt Powell 24.
