Clevedon Athletic Club members took part in relays and laps in the past week.

Relays and laps were the theme for Clevedon Athletic Club’s runners last week.

Three teams of three took part in the one-mile Sri Chinmoy relay at Eastville Park, with all runners performing well on the undulating ‘Peace Mile’.

It was great efforts all round from Alex Crossland, Phil Collins, Steve Wood, Martin Hewlett and James Hester, who all took part in the Fast 5000s on track at Yate Athletic Club.

The changeable weather at the weekend did not dampen the spirits of the Clevedon ladies’ team, who took part in the Cotswold 24-hour relay race. Marie Lochrie, Steph James, Jen Bishop, Sally Richards, Imogen Miller, Laura Meech, Paula Hall and Helen Wood ran non-stop around the clock to cover 31 laps of the mixed terrain course, a total distance of 173 miles.

Their fantastic efforts were rewarded with a Top 10 overall finish, first female team and first female team of six to eight runners.
