THE pigeon racing season has now finished for members of the Wraxall Village Club.

The birds will now be allowed to rest in preparation for the 2013 season, when racing will commence in April.

This year has been a particularly tough season due to the inclement weather. Also members have suffered repeated attacks from peregrine falcons and sparrow hawks, causing losses and severe injury to their birds.

However, members have enjoyed success in open races when they compete against birds nationwide, as well as at club level, and several races have seen the birds flying at over a mile-a-minute.
