Portishead members triumph in French race

Portishead pigeon fanciers Jackie and Nick Stone saw their bird arrive home first from the latest race from Saints in France.

Wraxall Village Club birds were released from Saintes (France) which proved to be a testing race for the birds with arrivals well spread out.

Arriving well ahead of the field was a two-year-old hen, going to Portishead members Jackie and Nick Stone. The partnership is enjoying a fantastic season and their winning bird completed the 408-mile flight in nine hours, 30 minutes.

Eight members sent 49 birds: J & N Stone 1259 yards per minute (43 mph); T & M Carpenter 1110; S Allen 1103; T & M Carpenter 1089; Wyatt & Gray 1083; R English 998.
