Local athletes got into the festive spirit at the Christmas Cracker 10k in Weston.

A group of 28 Portishead Running Club members were led home by Jason Scott, who was ninth in 39.43, and 12th-placed Mark Williams (40.50).

Steve Reynolds was 19th in 42.15, as Stuart Ellis (50.00) triumphed in the M70 category and Sonya Pratt (51.11) was second in her age group.

Clevedon AC's Laura Croker (46.36) was second in her category and eighth female overall, as Simon Hancock (53.00), Kevin Neads (58.01), Kerry Coombes (68.54) and Clare Holdaway (69.31) also took part.

New members James Foster (44.38) and Emma Foster (57.11) set personal bests on their club debuts.

Jo Gallagher (39.42) was ninth in her category at the Telford 10k, a qualifying event for the England Athletics 2020 Masters, as Luke Murray ran a best of 33.37 to finish 13th in the M40 group.

Entries are open for Clevedon's Boxing Day run, with a 3k junior race at 10.15am open for six to 14-year-olds and the main four-mile race at 11am for 15 and overs.
