A parkrun event was launched at Hangstones Pavilion on September 22 to encourage runners to lace up their trainers and enjoy the fresh air.

The athletics event is designed for all abilities and is perfect for non-competitive participants who wish to exercise more and improve their fitness.

The weather was not fantastic but spirits remained high throughout.

Ultra-runner Jim Gump, who spends time educating children about the importance of exercise, officially cut the ribbon to launch the new event.

A 2km junior fun run, for people aged four to 14, will be held in Yatton at 9am on Sundays.

The project took more than a year to get off the ground.

A parkrun in Clevedon was also set up last month, and hundreds are held across the UK every single week, including at Ashton Court.
