Nailsea United under-12s won the prestigious Brislington Tournament on Sunday.

The six-a-side tournament hosted teams from Bristol, Wales and Gloucestershire.

And Nailsea United held their own to remain undefeated throughout the entire tournament to secure first place in their group.

After progressing through the quarter-finals and semi-finals with ease, Nailsea came up against a strong Cinderford team in the final.

With the scores at 0-0 after normal time, the match proceeded to extra time. However, Noah Walsh scored Nailsea's winning goal to complete an excellent tournament.

Nailsea were then presented with the champions trophy and individual trophies by tournament organisers, who congratulated the side for playing their football with the correct attitude.

The squad consisted of Josh Carpenter, Kieron Collins, Ethan Merrick, Mathi Rossell, Noah Walsh, Seb Harrison and Jimi Wall and will move up to become the club's new under-13s next season.

"We are so proud of the boys," said manager Michael Collins.

"It is always difficult for North Somerset teams to do well in Bristol-based tournaments such as this one, due to the high standard of football, including travelling teams as well as football academy players, so for Nailsea United to win this tournament without losing a single match is an amazing achievement for the squad.

"This tournament win has created a great memory for these boys who have been playing football together since they were six-years-old.

"The boys also received compliments from many admirers at the tournament, who praised them for the respect they showed to other teams and the referees, as well the quality of their football."
