Nailsea Ladies 2nd XI finished the year in second spot in the league after a derby victory over North Somerset.

This was a local derby to finish off the year and with both teams sitting high in the table, the points from this game would put the winners in second spot.

Both teams started tentatively but Nailsea, despite finding it difficult to get some formation in their side, managed to put on early pressure to test the visiting defence.

Nailsea opened the scoring with a Cath Hole goal following some great passing. North had several opportunities, when breakaways caught Nailsea high, but defenders Sami Green and player of the match Danni Marks quickly recovered.

In the second half, Nailsea recovered their structure and continued to keep pressuring to add to the scoreline, but North’s defence were not going to make it easy.

Further goals from Cara Jones and a swivelling strike from Helen Harrington came from hard work in front of goal.

North Somerset continued to take their opportunities and pulled two goals back, despite a solid performance from Kira Cunio the Nailsea keeper.

Hole struck goal number four and went inches wide right on the whistle. A hard fought game with both defences excelling.
