Nailsea & District Club’s James Galpin was crowned National Junior champion for a third year in a row at Watford recently.

After an extremely successful 2018 season, Galpin has continued to make great strides this year.

And he is now ranked inside the world's top 100 players, regularly competing in top-level national events with no age restriction.

He proved too strong for the rest of the field in his last year of eligibility in the junior championship and always looked in control as he remained unbeaten.

The only disappointment for Galpin was that he could not match the achievement of Nailsea's Kristian Chambers, who won four junior titles in the 1990s.

Galpin's next tournament sees him jet off to Australia in February to take part in the World Association Croquet Championships in Melbourne, where he will be one to watch.
