Nailsea Croquet club record a win and a loss in two Advanced League matches.
NAILSEA Croquet Club recently played two Advanced League home matches.
In the first division, Nailsea first team beat the Bear of Rodborough 5-0. In the morning both games were close with Marcus Evans winning the singles by five and Kriss Chambers and John Grimshaw gaining the doubles by three.
In the afternoon, Kriss and Marcus had convincing wins by 24 and 22 respectively. John Grimshaw’s opponent had scored 21 points when John hit in, went to the peg and pegged out his opponent’s forward ball. The Bear player missed and John took his second ball round and pegged out to win by four.
Results - doubles: Kriss Chambers and John Grimshaw won +3. Singles: Marcus Evans won +5 and +22; Kriss Chambers won +24; John Grimshaw won +4.
In the second division, Nailsea seconds lost 2-5 against Cedar Park (Bristol). In the morning, Geoff Hughes and Brian McCausland narrowly lost the doubles by two (17-19), Ryan cabble won his singles by 16 and Pat Long lost by nine.
In the afternoon singles, Pat was the only winner in a close game that she won by two on time (22-20).
Results - doubles: Geoff Hughes and Brian McCausland lost -2T (17-19). Singles: Ryan Cabble won +16 and lost -9; Pat Long lost -9 and won +2T (22-20); Geoff Hughes lost -15; Brian McCausland lost -11T (10-21).
