Long Ashton Golf Club put on a fundraising night in support of Ukraine, based on their conflict with Russia, recently.
It has been five months since the first invasion on February 24 and the “unbelievable horrors” that have followed since then.
To help aid the effort, Long Ashton's Michael Price and Dave Whitfield set up a Cabaret night, which was helped set up by Joe Eastlake.
After watching an interview on television which saw Wye Valley Ukrainian Marina Gawluk and hospital consultants Sharon Marlowe and Simon Lee being interviewed regarding crowd funding, Eastlake reached out to them.
A date was set for the event and sold out immediately with the room decorated by Ukraine flags and “moving and heartfelt” speeches were given by Marlowe and Lee.
Afterwards an auction with gifts donated by professional golfer Chris Woods, Bristol City, Mercedes and many more organisations helped raise £4,850 on a “highly successfully night” for the Ukraine Charity Appeal.
