Local duo to play at Lakeside

Local darts players Leigh Taylor and Les Lester have qualified to play at the prestigious Lakeside venue.

LEIGH Taylor and Les Lester have qualified for the Gold Cup pairs to be played at world famous Lakeside venue.

Les and Leigh both play in the Pill and Portishead District Darts League, Les plays for the Phoenix Bar in Portishead and Leigh plays for the Kings Head in Pill. Both of them also play in the West of England Super League playing from the Duke in Pill, they also compete in the Congresbury League for the White Lion in Nailsea and they also represent the Duke in the Somerset Super League. Both play for Somerset, Les for the B team and Leigh for the A’s.

They qualified for the pairs via a county play-off after reaching the final in Bath. In the final, it was a close game and went 3-2 up. In the sixth leg, Les left Leigh on 135, while their opponents were on 65.

Leigh finished the match off with a magnificent finish with a 25, treble 20 and bull, to take the pair to the Lakeside to meet other county qualifiers on July 9. The winners will qualify for the Winmau World Masters and the world professional play-offs.
