A DARTS player from Pill had the chance to take on Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor in a thrilling match.

Leigh Taylor played the 15 times World Darts Champion after getting through to the semi-final and eventually winning a competition held at pool and snooker club Rileys in Bristol in October.

Later in the month, Leigh took on Phil in front of a crowd of hundreds who were clapping and cheering throughout the evening.

Despite narrowly missing a double six to win the match, Leigh said the whole experience was brilliant.

The 37-year-old of The Withys said: “It was just something totally different.

“To see him and play him at the best he’s been was just brilliant.

“I had a shot to beat him but I was shaking.

“To say that I had beaten him would have been great.”

Leigh has been playing darts since he was four and currently plays matches four nights a week and every other weekend.

He plays in teams for the Kings Head and The Duke pubs in Pill, as well as for The White Lion pub in Nailsea and for Somerset’s county team.
