Clevedon Gig Club’s Ladies B team won their first race of the season during the Ilfracombe regatta.

With the summer gig rowing season well underway, Clevedon attended the Illfracombe regatta which saw crews race the three-buoy course.

The Ladies B went out first and gave the other crews a run for their money. Rowing out strong and steady they set a good pace, making it hard work for the other crews to keep up.

Tempest (Lyme Regis) were not far behind, but Clevedon were determined to get the first win of the season and crossed the finish line in first place.

The Men’s B crew went out next, taking the course and rowing steady, which saw them finish in ninth place.

The Men’s A were next out, a strong crew who held their own, staying with the fierce competition and finishing middle of the pack in sixth place.

It seems the Men’s Vets and Ladies Vets rowed a similar race, both putting on a good performance and completing the course in seventh place.

The mixed race came next. A close run all the way round and they earned themselves a respectful sixth place.

And last but not least, the Men’s super-vets, a lot of them having raced previously throughout the day. But this did not affect their fighting spirit and they finished in a brilliant fourth place.
