About 170 students prepared for their karate grading at High Down Junior School, Portishead.

ABOUT 170 students prepared for their karate grading at High Down Junior School, Portishead.

The day was split into three gradings which were set out in age groups and these incorporated fundamentals, forms and applications, throws, take downs, grappling, sparring, pad work and a huge amount of fitness.

Gradings are a bi-annual event of the junior section of one of the toughest karate associations in the country - Daigaku Karate Kai, Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate.

Clubs involved were High Down Junior & Infant School and Gordano School in Portishead, High Down School Town Club, Frenchay Town Club and David Lloyd.
