Clevedon Freshwater Angling Club member Ivan Currie has won the latest club competition held at Bridgwater.

Woodland Lake on the Trinity Waters complex near Bridgwater, hosted the latest Clevedon Freshwater Angling Club competition.

Glorious weather helped to get an excellent turnout and anglers were expecting good weights. Clear skies on the Saturday night prior to the match meant that it went cold overnight and into the morning of the match.

Club press officer Ivan Currie took a gamble and approached the match as if it was winter fishing and popped up bread 10 inches off the bottom of the lake to catch carp regularly during the six hours for a match winning 72lb 6oz.

Second and in one of the corner pegs was Paul Faires, who fished pellet on the pole at various depths taking some very large carp for 69lb 10oz. The weights dropped after that with Matt Roden coming third with 49lb.

The top silver fish weight went to Andy Deavereax with 11lb of mainly skimmer bream.
