A dinghy sailing race was held by Portishead Yacht and Sailing club, one of a series held around the South West.

Portishead Yacht and Sailing Club (PYSC) hosted one of a series of dinghy sailing races staged around the South West.

Twenty-four dinghies took to the water, the weather raining and blustery, but this did not dampen the enthusiasm for this inaugural event.

Competitors travelled from as far afield as Mounts Bay in Cornwall, Burton Sailing Club in the Midlands and Burgfield near Reading.

Each dinghy had a GPS tracker on board, so those in the clubhouse were able to see the race projected onto the big screen.

Results - Chris and Jon Gill, in their Fireball (PYSC), Anthony and James Willcocks, in their Fireball (PYSC); Terry Curtis and Peter Creig in their Osprey (Castle Cove).
