Zack Holdaway took first place at the Lidl Half Banana Man triathlon at Dorney Lake in Eton.

TAKING part in the Lidl Banana Man triathlon at Dorney Lake, Eton, with over 100 other competitors of all ages from 14 to 70 years in his event, Zack Holdaway took first place.

With a strong swim and open water 400m personal best time, he exited the swim in second place leaving the rest of the swimmers some distance behind. A good 10.6k bike course around the rowing lake at Dorney (home to the Olympic 2012 rowing events) saw him remain in second place, but now just under two minutes down on the leader.

With a slick T2 it was then out onto the 2.5k run course for the final leg. Never giving up, Zack chased down the leader on the run and with just over 300m to go he overtook him to take the win by just over 10 seconds.

The first prize of a food hamper and £50 prize money was well received. Thanks go to the coaches at Clevedon AC, who have helped with his run training this season.
