Gryphons suffered a heartbreaking fourth loss in a row at home to Newquay.
Despite a strong start, with the majority of the ball play in the Gryphons’ attacking quarter, they were unable to convert any of their multiple opportunities at goal.

Newquay took the lead with a one-on-one break after 25 minutes, despite the best efforts of returning defender Charlie Lewis, who gained the player of the match award for a solid performance.
Although Newquay gained ground with possession, Gryphons remained composed and brought the scoreline level with a short corner strike from Lara Ford, assisted by a Newquay deflection, on the half time whistle.

In the second half, Gryphons had a slight edge with more possession, but again were unable to turn shots into goals. Newquay took the lead again, but it was followed in quick succession by Amy Homitzky’s goal from a metre out, turning and slotting it past the keeper in a packed D.
With everything to play for between two teams in consecutive places in the league, it came down to effort and grit and sadly for a 10-man Gryphon team, Newquay’s top scoring forward achieved a hat-trick in the final minute of the game, stealing the three points for the visitors.
A draw would have been a fair result after a game of two halves, but it was Newquay who capitalised on chances and took home the points.
