Winning start for Long Ashton

Long Ashton Golf Club first team start the season with a victory.
LONG ASHTON first team (pictured above), started their season at Chipping Sodbury, fielding three new members.
Jack Williams, Martin Rogers and Steve Jordan joined seven old hands - Hugh Purvis, Andy Fry, Nick Ring, Simon Dix, Gordon Barr, Andy Wright and Ross Adamson, all wearing new shirts sponsored by Chappell & Matthews and Mizuno.
With the match tied at two games each, Gordon Barr holed a 10 foot putt on the 18th green to grab the deciding game.
This was a great start to the campaign. The first team’s next game is at home against The Mendip on May 13.
The ladies B team hosted Lansdown B. Julie Hagon, playing at number one was the only lady to win outright. Wendy Hiles drew with her opponent as the ladies lost 11-3.
Other players were Carol Marshall, Judith Briggs, Fran Hunn, Hilary Allen, Anna Vinter.
The juniors started their season with a 5-1 win at The Park. Well done to the team of Noah Hessey, Jack Pring, Ashley Collis, Sean Bidwell, Alex Van Laun and Jack Edwards.
The juniors also entered the Bristol and District League Alexander Trophy. The team of Hessey, Pring and Joshua Summers finished sixth, with 68 points only six points behind the winners.
Well done to Andy Webb and Andrew Wedlock, who both achieved a hole in one recently. One was on hole 2a and the other on the ninth.
