Golf: Porter crowned champion at Long Ashton

Long Ashton's Ross Porter was crowned club champion for the third time in four years recently.
Porter carded gross rounds of 68 and 70 for an excellent winning score of 138, following a 25-foot putt on the last hole.
The club championship, which started in 1909, is spread over 36 holes and saw Noah Hessey come second after rounds of 69 and 70.
Meanwhile, junior member Louis Ross finished in third place, after carding gross scores of 73 and 75 to finsh on 148.
Tom Wright took home the Boyd Cup with the best nett score of 135, closely followed by Geoff Patch on 139 and club captain Nick Ring in third place with 141.
Special mention goes to Mickey Parker who hit a hole in one on the 17th hole to receive a Magnum of Prosecco and other prizes kindly sponsored by St Austell Brewery.
