THE winter competitions at Mendip Spring Golf Club have been completed and with the onset of spring, Vernon Hunt, head greenkeeper and his staff are hard at work preparing the nine and 18-hole courses for the summer.

completed and with the onset of spring, Vernon Hunt, head greenkeeper and his staff are hard at work preparing the nine and 18-hole courses for the summer.

Relaying of three of the tee boxes on the 18-hole Brinsea Course has been completed, together with the annual spring 
treatment of the greens, which will provide high quality putting surfaces for members and 
visitors.

Together with many other improvements 
carried out to the 
clubhouse and courses over the winter, 
Mendip Spring is aiming to maintain its reputation as one of the ‘must play’ courses in the South West of England.

Winter competition results – men’s singles winner: Q Byrom, 
runner-up - G Kemp; Plate: P Hatton, L Andrews; pairs: G Fear and T Elliot, P Lazenby and S Emler.

Ladies singles: Lyn Withey, Heather Kerr-Wilbur; pairs: Heather Kerr-Wilbur and Gill Prophet, Sue and Katherine Sokol.

Mens qualifier Stableford – Division 1: R Slocombe 40 pts; T Baker 39; N Linham 39. Division 2: J Manson 40; L Felstead 36; R Bryant 35.

Ladies qualifier Stableford: Lyn Withey 41; Heather Kerr-Wilbur 35; Pauline Cornish 31.

Men’s qualifier Stableford: G Willcock 40; C Greenwood 40; R Cooke 39.
