Steve Lawrence was the talk of Clevedon following his hole-in-one - at the par four 13th hole!

Lawrence carded his albatross alongside Craig Andrews, who said: "A hole in one is a rare achievement at the best of times, invariably on par three holes, so to get an ace on a par four is a rare bird indeed!"

The women held an open bowmaker with 38 teams taking part and Sue Hellyer, Liz Law and Dawn Towell (Monmouthshire) won with a score of 86 points.

Vicki Sach, Sandra Sharp and Pauline Deal had the best Clevedon score of 83.

Joe Swift continued his good form in the midweek competition, after three players tied on 39 points.

A storming back nine of 23 pushed Oliver Hayden into second, with Dave McGovern in third place.

Harry Selwyn was part of the victorious Somerset squad which won the South West Counties Team Championship at Truro.

A total of 519 was four ahead of the Devon side who finished runners-up.
