Juniors from Long Ashton Golf Club have completed a cup double for the second successive season.

Long Ashton Golf Club juniors won the Bob Perkins Trophy and are also champions of Gloucestershire, completing the double in successive seasons.

The winning team of Sam Williams (junior captain), Djib Ali, Lewis Ault, Cameron Fear and Milan Reed had qualified to compete for the inter-league trophy.

This is an annual match between the winners of the Bristol & District Junior Golf League and the North Gloucestershire Junior Alliance League.

Bob Perkins donated the trophy and the first match took place at the end of the 2012 season. Bob is the president of the B&DJGL and presents the trophy at the annual matches.

Their opponents were Kings Norton and they came up against a strong team in challenging conditions at Cotswold Edge. All matches went to the 17th green with the winning point secured by Lewis Ault on the 18th.

The final result was a 3-2 win with Long Ashton once again winning the league and Bob Perkins Trophy in the same season. No other Bristol & District team has achieved this in successive seasons.

We should all be extremely proud of the juniors who were English Junior Club champions back in 2016 and have gone on the win both the B&D League and Bob Perkins Trophy for the last two years.

At the end of this season, the team unfortunately lose Sam Williams, Sam Harrison and Nathan Moore, who have contributed significantly to our success over the last few years.

The annual meeting of the Bristol & District League is on November 12 when Long Ashton will find out who their opponents will be in both the league and knockout cup for the 2019 season.
