Clevedon Golf Club junior Myles Angell enjoyed early season success by becoming the new Somerset Golf Union’s Junior Champion.

THE new golfing season burst into life in a big way for Clevedon’s talented junior Myles Angell.

Competing in Somerset Golf Union’s Junior Championship, which also incorporated the Weston Junior Open, favourable course and weather
conditions ensured good scoring would be the order of the day and Myles recorded eight pars and one birdie on the front nine to reach the turn one under.

His impressive form continued on the back nine with three further birdies enabling him to register a bogey-free round and run out a clear winner with 66 gross (63 nett).

Other commendable performances by Clevedon members included Jo Swift’s nett 65, Ali Balcombe (67), Tom Rowlinson (71) and Ed Cawse (71).

Competing later in the Four Counties Junior Championships on his home course, Myles received the Somerset player of the competition award after finishing third in the stroke play event with a gross 73 and winning two out of three of his matches.
