Four members from Gemini Tae-Kwon-Do Club won medals at the South West Championships.

Gemini Tae-Kwon-Do Club, who train at Parish Wharf Leisure Centre in Portishead, competed in junior and adult classes at the South West Championships held in Weston.

Senior club instructor Jane Lambert said: “There were more than 400 students taking part in lots of different categories. We entered six students in patterns and sparring competitions and I was very pleased with how our students all performed.

“They had all been so focused before the event and trained so hard, it is great that the hard work paid off. We had one student competing for the first time and are pleased they came away with a bronze medal.

“If you are looking for a great way to improve your fitness, make new friends and challenge yourself in 2017, Tae Kwon-Do is definitely the answer.”

The Portishead’s winners were: Phoebe Delafaille (team sparring, silver); Jaya Jain (sparring, bronze); Sophie Millard, (patterns, silver); Ali Sellars (sparring, bronze).

Gemini Tae-Kwon-Do train every Monday at Parish Wharf Leisure Centre and Thursdays at Portishead Primary School, when men, women and children of all abilities are welcome.
