Backwell Tennis Club has gone one step further to help the environment by installing solar panels on their clubhouse roof.

Recently named the Avon Tennis Community Club of the Year, their panels were installed by local company Solarsense Ltd and will provide 6.8kW of power to enable reductions in energy use at the club.

To help with the cost, the club was grateful to receive a grant from Bristol Airport as part of their support for local communities in North Somerset.

Club chairman Richard Gaunt said: “The solar panels form part of an ongoing process to help the environment by reducing energy use at the club with small but significant investments.

“Our aim overall is to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and help the club focus more of its resources on the coaching programme and to support the local community.”

See backwelltennis.co.uk for more information about the club.
