Clevedon Town moved up to fourth place in the league table after their victory at Chipping Sodbury Town.

Clevedon Town travelled to The Ridings to take on “The Sods” of Chipping Sodbury and despite the continuous rain making conditions challenging, they returned with all three points following a 3-1 victory.

The home side had a couple of early chances before Morgan Williams play the ball through to Alex Camm, whose shot found the side netting.

A minute later and the visitors took the lead when Harry Smith’s corner was cleared to the edge of the box where Archie Ferris smashed the ball over the head of Chipping Sodbury keeper Jack Dando and into the net.

The ball was played forward to Lucas Vowles on 19 minutes with his back to goal and he turned and shot straight at Jack Dando. 3 minutes later and Harry Smith tried his luck from distance but the ball sailed over the bar.

Clevedon thought they had doubled their lead in the 24th minute when Tyler Ashmead’s cross found Lucas Vowles and his header thumped off the bar.

Chipping Sodbury were creating chances of their own and Connor Sidley-Adams had to be alert to keep the shots out.

Any hopes the home side had of getting back into the game were dealt a blow on half-time when they were reduced to 10 men. Justin Bishop fouled Camm and then appeared to catch him with his boot as he attempted to step over him.

Clevedon doubled the lead on 55 minutes when Smith and Elliott Nicholson combined to set up Camm to score the second.

The home side managed to pull a goal back on 63 minutes when George Box found Jake Thomas and he fired the ball across Connor Sidley-Adams and into the back of the net.

Clevedon went close again with a disallowed goal by Archie Ferris and a shot by Williams hitting the bar.

Clevedon did get a third when Nicholson collected the ball 30 yards out and he let fly and the ball flew straight into the top corner of the net giving no chance and making the score 1-3.

The Seasiders held out to pick up their fifth win from six games and move them up to fourth place in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division.

Clevedon are next in action on Saturday when league leaders Bridgwater Town visit The Everyone Active Stadium with a 3pm kick-off.
