CLEVEDON Town lost at home against Evo-Stik Southern League leaders Winchester.

The hosts took the lead in the 24th minute when a cross from Adam Mahdi found Joe Flurry on the edge of the box and his first time shot flew into the back of the net.

The lead lasted barely two minutes as Curtis Jack brought down Andrew White in the box and Michael Charles send keeper Lee Matthews the wrong way to level the scores.

Winchester keeper Rory Anderson kept out a 30-yard drive from Jack and four minutes before the break, saved a Mahdi penalty after Reeko Best had been fouled.

Jack McKenna was also denied by Anderson early in the second period, while at the other end, the dangerous Charles fired wide.

Charles made no mistake just after the hour when he raced onto Tom Dunford’s through ball to beat Matthews.

Six minutes later, Charles set up White who netted Winchester’s third and Dunford wrapped up the visitors’s scoring two minutes later.

Clevedon: L Matthews, C Jack, A Robbins, J McKenna, J Walker, B Murray, A Russell, A Adams, J Flurry (S King 72), R Best, A Mahdi (G Kapika 72). Subs: M Fisher, J Moss, B Hussain.
