Swiss Valley Rangers Under-11 Girls produced an excellent performance to defeat Wembdon 8-1.

Swiss Valley Rangers Under-11 Girls were almost at full strength for their home match against Wembdon and they ran out 8-1 winners.

The first 10 minutes were played with caution from both sides keeping the scores tied at 0-0. Swiss went more attacking pushing Darcy further upfield and giving licence for Ella H, Jasmine and Lucy to push further forward to support Kaylin, Evie and Maya in midfield.

Darcy scored her first goal of the match followed by goals from Kaylin, Lucy and another from Darcy before the end of the half.

Both Darcy and Lucy bagged a hat-trick with Darcy’s third coming from a great kick out from Maddie to send her clear. Kaylin grabbed another to take her tally to two.

The Under-10s took on Wellington Under-11s and produced their best defensive performance yet.

They lost 3-0, but can be proud of the strides they are making. Bella, Poppy, Isabelle and Maisie failed to score, but showed great energy. Rosie had a much-improved match in the middle along with debutant Bethany S. Defenders Bridie, Evelyn and goalkeeper Bethany M also had great games.

Clevedon Under-14 Girls took on top of the league Purnell and gave a fine performance, despite losing 3-1.

The game started slowly for Clevedon and they conceded two goals in quick succession. Undeterred, the Clevedon team fought back but could not score. Purnell could only drum up counter attacks, but managed to bag another goal.

The second half did not disappoint and Clevedon fought hard and Leah forced her way into the box, only to be brought down. The resulting penalty was slotted away perfectly by Jess.

The game ended with a loss for Clevedon, but the performance merited at least a draw.

Girl of the match could have gone to anyone, but Abi’s tireless sweeping at the back deservedly won her the award.

In only their second match, Clevedon United Under-10 girls showed they are improving with every training session and match.

Playing against a good Mendip side, this was always going to be a tight game, but with a player of the match performance, Ella pulled the strings in midfield and contributed with two goals assisted by Ruby and Izzy.

Layla made six outstanding saves and with Samantha, Edie and Macey solid at the back, there was no way back for Mendip.

Portishead Town Under-15s Girls played host to top of the table Downend Flyers in the Bristol Girls League.

An early Emily Edwards strike was flagged offside before a Katherine Southern through ball found Edwards who opened the scoring. Edwards made it two by lobbing the keeper having received the ball from Keiana Jones.

A short corner to Millie Rosenior gave her time to chip in from out wide, before a Rosenior run and cross hit the far post, Jones bundling in the rebound for a half time score of 4-0.

Portishead continued to take the game to the visitors, but failed to extend their lead when Edwards sent a penalty wide.

Normal service was resumed with girl of the match Katie Quick setting up Katie Britton for a first-time shot and 5-0 lead.

A defensive misunderstanding allowed the visitors to score a consolation goal before a Kim Parker pass wide to Rosenior and cross and a superb Leah Bettinson shot restored the lead.

Edwards finished off the scoring, twice slotting just inside the post, first from a Quick pass then from a Britton pass for a final score of 8-1.
