NAILSEA Town recorded an emphatic Errea Somerset County League Division 1victory against Timsbury following a four week
lay-off due to adverse weather.

Town were 1-0 up after four minutes thanks to Mike Purnell following a fine piece of work by Matt Fisher.

Timsbury then shut up shop with five at the back, but towards then end of the half, Purnell turned provider with firstly Miles Suleyman, who scored a delightful goal and then Rich Mills both netting.

So Town began the second half three goals to the good which soon became four when Purnell netted again having missed two earlier chances.

Town were now in complete control of the game and laid siege to the Timsbury goal creating chance after chance. The introduction of Campbell Bannerman gave the visitors new problems and he proceeded to score two goals in quick succession.

Town were now rampant and looked like running up a cricket score, but Timsbury managed to hold out and prevent any additions to a decisive win.

Players’ player of the match was Scott Pilgrim, who ran the midfield along with Suleyman and Jamie Mellor.
