Nailsea Vets on course to retain title

Nailsea Vets are on course to record back-to-back championship titles with three games remaining.

Nailsea Vets have enjoyed a successful couple of weeks.

They played cup holders Undy in the cup and got revenge for last year’s defeat. It was 2-2- at full-time after goals from Josh Irish and Lyle Brimble took the game to a penalty shoot-out.

Martin Sidebottom, Lee Phillips, Terry Keen and Andy Iles were successful and two saves from Darren Penny gave Nailsea the win to take them through to the quarter-finals.

Nailsea returned to league action and they kept up their unbeaten season by demolishing Retainers 4-0, thanks to goals from Sidebottom, Brimble, Mark Pender and Paul McLaughlin, to leave the Vets six points clear at the top with three games remaining. Another win should see Nailsea claim back-to-back championships.
