UNITED hosted undefeated Bristol club Cutters Friday to The Grove for their latest Somerset County League fixture.

The first scoring attempt came after 10 minutes fell to James Springett, his shot failing to trouble the keeper. Immediately Cutters counter attacked, forcing Scott Kendall to make an acrobatic save.

Minutes later Nailsea took a deserved lead with Darren Bloomfield finding Ryan King, who then lobbed the keeper. United doubled their lead with James Springett crossing for James Lee to beat the keeper with a deft header.

With 42 minutes gone, good inter-passing between Springett and Bloomfield saw the latter roll the ball to Matt Long. The midfielder beat his marker to score, making the half-time score 3-0 to Nailsea.

The start of the second half saw the Bristol side up their tempo with Kendall forced to make a couple of good saves.

With 10 minutes to go Steve Lester fed an inch perfect ball to Bloomfield, who cut in towards goal to shoot across the keeper and into the net. With seconds to go, loose play in the Cutters defence gave Jim Lee the chance to score his second goal with a powerful shot.

This was a complete team performance with Cutters being outplayed in every department of the game.

Tonight (Wed), United travel to Minehead for a 7.45pm kick-off. On Saturday, Nailsea are at home to Shirehampton in the League Cup, kick-off 2pm.
