Nailsea United awarded grant to reintroduce a Colts side

Nailsea United Football Club has been awarded grant from Grow the Game to help reintroduce a Colts side.

Nailsea United Football Club are celebrating after being awarded an initial sum of £1,050 Grow the Game grant, something that has attracted praise from England Manager Gareth Southgate.

The grant, which will provide a boost to grassroots football in Nailsea has paved the way for Nailsea United to reintroduce a Colts side for those players who are making the move from junior to senior football.

The Colts side will play in the Weston and District League to be managed by Barry Sampson, John Pinkney and Mark Clode. Any players who may be interested can contact Barry on 07939 030068

England manager and Football Foundation Ambassador, Gareth Southgate, said: “I am so pleased that Nailsea United has secured this Grow the Game grant. The club has worked very hard with the Somerset FA and the Football Foundation to get more local people playing football so that they can enjoy the many physical and mental benefits that come with playing regular sport.”

Club president Roger Lock said: “We are very pleased to have been awarded the grant from the Football Foundation which has allowed the club to add a fifth team aimed specifically at young players in Nailsea, who will benefit from structured coaching in the transition period from junior to senior football.”
