Nailsea & Tickenham started the Somerset League Premier Division season with a 2-2 draw against Mendip Boardwalk.

The newly promoted visitors had the first chance on 19 minutes as Tommy Milkins forced Dave Hill into a fine save.

But the Swags saw James Seeley fire straight at Jason Hill and Luke Osgood head just over from a cross.

Mendip took the lead on 37 minutes as Clayton Matthews smashed home a 20-yard shot, but Joe Berry and Osgood went close to a reply before the break.

N&T were on level terms on 54 minutes as Berry's cross found Osgood to head home, but Mendip regained the lead midway through the second half when O'Donnell converted Whittle's cross.

The home side snatched a point four minutes from time when a long-range shot was fumbled by the visiting keeper and Berry pounced to score.

N&T almost won it in the last minute as Dave O'Reilly's long throw was headed on by Gary Freeman, but the ball was cleared off the line.

Freeman received the Sawyers Arms man of the match award from Steve Morton.
