NAILSEA were unlucky losers of this Errea Somerset County League Division 1 match, having dominated possession and having countless scoring chances which were not converted.

The first half was like a boxing match with both sides testing each other out. The closest the game came to a goal was late in the half when Mike Purnell crossed the ball, only to see Dan Cook fire over the bar.

A minute later Matt Fisher drew a fine save from the home keeper again after an excellent move from the away team.

The second half started disastrously for Town when a penalty kick awarded to the home side was duly converted. After that, Nailsea went on the rampage putting the home team under continuous pressure.

The Bishop Sutton goal bore a charmed life, with Nailsea mysteriously having a goal disallowed by the match official. Still Town kept going, creating chance after chance, but the home team stood firm until the final whistle.

Player of the match for Nailsea was Scott Pilgrim, who ran his legs off in the centre of midfield.

On Saturday, Nailsea are on the road again away to Purnells Sports, kick off 2.30pm.
