Archant

Swiss Valley Rangers under-13 girls got the better of local rivals Portishead in their derby encounter.

They looked stronger early on as chances fell to Ella W and Jasmine, but the Portishead defence held firm.

Fern, Maggie and Poppy also looked composed in the SVR defence, but Portishead took the lead after a clinical counter attack on the left.

The visitors doubled their lead before half time, but SVR's midfield began to take control after the restart.

Ava, Libby and Ella W created chances for Jasmine and Nancy and the front two netted in quick succession to level things up.

A corner on the left gave Nancy a chance to bend the ball over the keeper's head to make it 3-2 and Portishead were denied a reply as Mia and keeper Katie shone at the back.

Katie's long clearance then found Jasmine to race away and clinch a 4-2 victory for SVR, which was a little flattering after a hard-fought effort from Portishead.
