They made a bright start, with Jay Murray forcing a save from Kieran Hodges after two minutes and Syd Camper firing just wide soon after.

Zach Drew saw a powerful shot pushed out by Hodges on 11 minutes, with George King seeing his follow-up attempt blocked.

But Joe White fired over for the hosts before Clevedon took the lead on 18 minutes when Archie Ferris sent Drew through on the right and he beat Hodges and crossed into the box, where Matt Spiller headed into his own net.

It was 2-0 three minutes later as King's cross found Murray, whose shot was saved by Hodges for Ferris to smash home, despite the keeper's attempts to prevent it crossing the line.

Mike Dangerfield produced a diving save to deny former Town player Lewis Hedges at the other end, before Clevedon got their third on 36 minutes as Ferris beat Hodges to a long pass and walked the ball into the net.

Murray shot straight at Hodges when put through by Camper on 40 minutes, while Cribbs captain Jake Hodgson headed over from Alfie Clarke's free-kick in stoppage time.

Dangerfield saved from Hedges five minutes into the second half, while Jason Vincent headed wide from another Spiller free-kick.

But Glen Hayer then had a looping header saved by Hodges from Camper's free-kick, before Clevedon scored on 69 minutes.

Drew collected the ball on halfway and let fly from 25 yards, with his low shot beating the dive of Hodges to nestle in the corner of the net.

Ferris completed his hat-trick a minute later when the ball was sent in from the left and he took a touch before drilling a shot past Hodges.

But he saw hopes of a fourth dashed when his attempted chip flew over the keeper and the crossbar a minute later.

Charlie Aldom cleared a Sam Hedges header off the line, before Hodges smothered Drew's effort, Murray glanced a header wide and Aldom saw a shot blocked in injury time.

Clevedon are set to host Roman Glass St George in their last home game before Christmas on Saturday (3pm).
