Clevedon United’s under-11 girls began their season with a win over Downend Flyers.

They started well and took the lead with an opportunist goal from Ruby, only to be pegged back later in the first half.

Debutant Cassidy put Clevedon back in front before half time and good work by Hope denied Downend a reply in the second half.

They did eventually square matters, though, and it looked like ending in a draw when Clevedon snatched a late winner.

A well-worked short corner move between Cassidy and Harper ended with Cassidy curling a shot into the far top corner, as Maddie took the player of the match award.

Clevedon United would like to thank Burnett and Hillman for their support in sponsoring the girls' pre-match hoodies.
